College Details

The institute was established in the year 1986 by the name of Regional Engineering College. On 26th June, 2002 the institute got the status of deemed university and its present name. NIT campus is located at Anu in Hamirpur district of Himachal Pradesh. NIT, Hamirpur has five boys hostel and one hostel for girls. The hostels have all the basic amenities with separate solar system, badminton court and table tennis for each. The institute has separate well equipped gymnasium for both boys and girls. The National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur has a Digital Library to share documents with faculty/staff and students. The students are encouraged to take part in sports activities and their competitions.

The institute has got its Training & Placement department in the year 1995. The placement statistics of the institute is increasing every year as more than 50 reputed companies & MNCs visit the campus, more than 75% of the students are placed and the students are placed in both national & international companies. NIT, Hamirpur had good placement record for the year 2015 as 79.58% was the placement rate, the highest package offered for the same year was Rs.16.85 lakhs per annum and the average package offered was Rs. 4.70 lakhs per annum. The Placement rate for the year 2014 was 66.48%, the highest package offered was Rs. 13.40 lakhs per annum and the average package offered was Rs.4.30 lakhs per annum. The past recruiters that have visited National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur campus for recruitment are namely, Belzabar, Verizon, Oracle Mumbai, Maruti, Noida Power Company Noida, Alstom India Ltd Noida, Ramboll, TATA Consultancy, Sapient Delhi, Jindal Steel Works, MuSigma, SnapDeal, DRDO, Ashok Leyland, BPCL and many more.

It offers B.Tech, B.Arch, M.Tech, M.Arch and Ph.D degree courses. The institute offers fiver year B.Arch degree and a two year M.Arch degree course. The B.Tech degree is offered in various disciplines of engineering like Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. NIT, Hamirpur offers five year Dual Degree program in CSE. For admission in Dual Degree/ B.Arch/ B.Tech program one should take JEE Main entrance exam. The institute offers M.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering (VLSI Design Automation & Techniques and Communication Systems & Networks), Civil Engineering (Structural, Transportation, Geotechnical, Environmental and Water Resources Engineering), Computer Science Engineering, Mobile Computing, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Engineering and CAD-CAM). The admission to M.Tech / M.Arch is through GATE entrance exam and CCMT.
