Sardar Vallabhai Regional College of Engineering and Technology (SVNIT), Surat It was founded in1961. With effect from 4th December, 2002 the university is known as Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology, Surat and is recognized as deemed university. The institute is popularly known as SVNIT, Surat or NIT, Surat. SVNIT, Surat covers an area of 250 hectares of lush green land on Athwa Dumas road in Surat.
Sardar Vallabhai National Institute of Technology, Surat aims to be the best technical institute nationwide & worldwide and provide training to its manpower as per the requirement of the technology sector. The institute caters its students in nine hostels. It also encourages its students to actively take part in sports like cricket, basketball, football, hand ball, volley ball, kabaddi, kho kho, tennis, badminton, table tennis, chess and carom. SVNIT, Surat has a well equipped gymnasium and 400mt athletic track. The central library in NIT, Surat has rich collection of journals, books and electronic media. The campus has ATMs of State Bank of India and Canara Bank.
