College Details

NIT, Rourkela was established as Regional Engineering College (REC) Rourkela on 15 August 1961. It converted into a NIT in 2002. Prof. Sunil Kr Sarangi is the director of this institute. In 2015, out of 31 NITs, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela was ranked 10th. The National Institute of Technology, Rourkela has a very vibrant campus life with 40 clubs/student organizations. These clubs promote a variety of interests such as technical, cultural, literary, debating and quizzing, sports, social service, etc. among the students. The institute area is at the centre of the campus and surrounded by the residential areas. The main building of the Institute is central to the institute area and is surrounded by the departmental buildings. NIT, Rourkela houses all the classrooms, the Central library, and the Administrative and Academic sections.
