National Institute of Technology (NIT), Puducherry
It is one of the 30 NITs established in India. NIT, Puducherry is among the ten NITs sanctioned in 2009 by the Government of India. The institute was established in the year 2010. The campus is located near village Poovam at Karaikal in Puducherry on an area of 258 acres of land. NITPY is funded by the Central Government and is an Institute of National Importance.
NIT, Puducherry is currently operating from its temporary campus Arignar Anna Govt. Arts and Science College, Nehru Nagar, Karaikal. The hostel facility is provided to the students in private buildings. The institute encourages its students to take up sports activities as they help in developing leadership skills and teaches how to make decisions in ambiguous situations. The National Institute of Technology, Puducherry provides medical facilities to the students in collaboration with Vinayaka Mission Medical College and Hospital, Karaikal. NITPY has Innovative Club which collects ideas from students and converts them into worthwhile projects.
Placements :The institute has a Training & Placement cell which organizes campus placements for the students. The past recruiters who have visited NIT, Puducherry campus for recruitment are L&T Infotech, Polaris, Ramco, ZOHO, IBM, L&T Construction, SnapDeal, MuSigma, MISYS, Epcos, Ernst & Young, ABB, NSE and Reliance Jio Infocomm.
Courses :NIT Puducherry B.Tech admission for 2021 is based on valid JEE Mains top scores, followed by JoSAA / CSAB consulting. Additionally, admission to the NIT Puducherry M.Tech program is based on GATE scores, followed by the CCMT counseling. Admission to the doctoral program is completed on the basis of internal written examinations and interviews.
