PEC University of Technology (Punjab Engineering College University of Technology) is one of the pioneer engineering colleges in Punjab. The institute became Deemed University in 2003 through an MHRD notification and rechristened as PEC University of Technology in 2009. There are 9 academic departments and 2 centers of excellence. The faculty of academic departments and centers is involved in cutting edge research and development works. The institute collaborates very closely with research organizations, industries, alumni and other academic institutions both India and abroad, and has signed MoUs to pursue joint research in niche areas. The students graduating from this institute are placed in highly reputed companies with handsome salary packages.The institute governance is through a vibrant Board of Governors, chaired by a renowned industrialist, Sh. Rajinder Gupta. The institute is headed by a Director on 5 years tenure; a position, which is equivalent to Vice Chancellor of Universities.

Placements :

Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University) Chandigarh exhibits an excellent placement record. According to the official placement brochure, 403 students were placed during Punjab Engineering College (PEC) placements 2021. The average package offered during the campus placements was recorded to be INR 10.83 LPA, whereas the highest package was INR 42 LPA. The highest package offered during Punjab Engineering College placements 2022 was recorded to be a massive amount of INR 64.5 LPA, which was offered to seven students from the Computer Science branch. The average package during PEC Chandigarh witnessed an increment of about 24 per cent and stood at INR 13.5 LPA. Furthermore, 509 students grabbed the placement offers from companies like Microsoft, Arcesium, American Express, JP Morgan & Co, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Company, KPMG, Samsung and Expedia Group, among others.

The institute offers 8 Undergraduate B. Tech. Programmes and 14 Post graduate M. Tech. Programmes in various disciplines of engineering and technology. After becoming University, the institute has also started PhD programme in various disciplines of engineering, science, management, humanities and social sciences. The admission to UG and PG programmes are made through national level examinations namely JEE (Mains) and GATE respectively. There are 9 academic departments and 2 centers of excellence.

The college offers B.Tech in eight streams which include Computer Science and Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Metallurgical And Materials Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Industrial & Production Engineering. The college also offers M.Tech in the following streams such as Computer Science And Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Structures And Design, Transportation Engineering, Vlsi Design, Total Quality Management, Electronics Engineering, Production & Industrial Engineering,Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Information Security and Industrial Design.
