College Details :

It is commonly known as IIT, Mandi and is the youngest of all the IITs. It was one of the IITs that came into existence in the year 2009 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011. The main campus of the institute is situated on the Uhl river valley at Kamand Village which is 14 kms from Mandi town. The campus of IIT, Mandi spreads on an area of 538 acres of land. Its foundation stone was laid on 24th February, 2009 at Kamand.The Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi has academic facilities for its students like a well equipped lab, interactive virtual classrooms, National knowledge Network an electronic classroom, an Advanced Materials Research Centre and a central library with the growing collection of books and e-journals. The institute has hostel facility for boys, girls, staff, visitors and faculty. The various sports facilities at IIT, Mandi are volleyball, basketball, soccer, cricket, and badminton, and hockey, table tennis, cycling, trekking and hiking. The campus also caters for in campus dining, bank & ATM, school and day care for children of students, staff and faculty.

Placements :

It has a career and placement cell which consists of the faculty, placement officers and volunteer students who work hard for the placement of the students in well known companies. The past recruiters that have visited the IIT, Mandi campus are Amazon, Benchmark, CAD Studio, CeWIT, Cisco Ltd., Cognizant, Defense Research and Development Organization, HPCL, Google Inc, Edifecs, IBM, Infosys, Larsen& Turbo, Microsoft IT, Trident, TCS Research and many more. The placement rate in Computer Science Engineering has been 93% with the highest package of Rs.26.4 lakhs per annum for the year 2014-15. In Electrical Engineering the highest package was Rs. 11 lakhs per annum with 68% of placement rate for the same year. The Mechanical Engineering student got the highest package of Rs. 9 lakhs per annum and the placement rate for the same was 65%. Thus we can say that the Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi has a good placement statistics.

Courses :

The enrollment cycle of IIT Mandi’s BTech flagship project usually starts in September, when the main JEE registration form is released. For PG courses, the application process usually starts in March, while for doctoral programs, the admission time is usually in July and December. All admissions to UG, PG, and Ph.D. programs are based on candidates' performance in the entrance examinations of their respective countries. Those who wish to enter the college must apply online on its official website and the authorized institution of the corresponding examination. The institute mainly provides more than 25 UG, PG, and doctoral level courses in engineering, technology, and science branches. IIT Mandi’s flagship course is BTech, which has innovative and flexible courses. Students can study core courses in basic sciences, engineering sciences, humanities, and social sciences alongside their chosen direction. Students can choose elective courses other than core majors and can study "minor courses" in these subjects.

IIT Mandi Admission Process :

Admission to all IIT Mandi courses is dependent on the candidates' scores on the relevant qualifying exams. The duration for the BTech course is four years and the duration for all PG courses is two years. However, research-based master's and doctoral programs are offered for three years.
