The eligibility criteria for the M.E./M.Tech admission in the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology are as follows:

• GATE score is used for the admission process of M.E/M.Tech courses. Candidates who have qualified in the GATE entrance examination will be given the highest lead and preference. A minimum of 60% should be obtained by the general category students and a minimum of 55% will be allotted to the SC/ST/Industry sponsored candidates.
• The rest vacant seats will be allocated on the basis of entrance test conducted by the Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology.
• The different programs which are offered via M.Tech are CSED, ECED, CED and MED.

The pattern for the M.E/M.Tech programs in Thapar University is as follows:

• For CAM/CAM engineering particularly, a total duration of 90 minutes will be given to the candidates.
• 75 questions will be enquired from the applicants, 20 each from the streams of Industrial Eng., Production, Thermal and Design.
• Scholastic Aptitude section will consist of 15 questions in total.
