AIT, well known as Army Institute of Technology is situated at Dighi Hills, Alandi Road Area, Pune and Maharashtra, India. As the name implies, the Army Institute of Technology i.e. AIT offers UG engineering courses only to the wards of army personnel. Being affiliated to University of Pune, it is a well renowned body of imparting technical courses. JEE MAINS exam is the base of getting admission into AIT. Army Welfare Education Society(AWES) monitors the functioning of AIT. Since, AIT belongs to Indian army, therefore the senior most officer of the Indian Army, that is, the Chief of Indian Army (COAS) heads AIT by holding the position of President of its Boards of Governors.
