SMU often referred as Sikkim Manipal University is a reputed institute of education which conducts SMIT, that is, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology entrance examination. The examination is organized for the student’s enrollment into a number of courses of variant levels – UG and PG which are majorly dedicated to the engineering stream. Particularly SMIT B.Tech admission examination is an offline examination conducted at the level of University.

• The minimum passing education at 10+2 level should have been carried out by the applicants and aspirants. At least 50% marks should be secured by them from a recognized board of education whether State or Central with the respective subjects as – Mathematics, Physics (compulsory) and optional subjects as – Biotechnology/ Computer Science/ Chemistry/Biology etc.
• For open category, 50% marks is the qualifying criteria and for SC/ST and OBC candidates, 45% marks in the listed subjects is considered as the qualifying criteria.
• For B.Tech admissions, the JEE examination is considered as the basis and therefore SMIT takes students in by scanning their JEE scores. Moreover, students who aspire to take a seat through the paper of MU OET have to regularly check the eligibility criteria of the examination.

• The paper pattern comprises of MCQs and therefore objective in nature. Students have to choose one correct answer out of all.
• Since, online mode of examination is preferred, therefore, CBT i.e. Computer Based Test format is followed.
