Production Engineering is about controlling, designing and improvement of the integrated systems to provide high-quality, cost-effective goods and timely services. It also provides knowledge about the adequate planning of the manufacturing system. The blend of management science and manufacturing technology is also known as production engineering.Production Engineering falls under the Department of Mechanical Engineering and is available in both UG and PG level degrees. The course is offered in B.E, B. Tech, M.E and M. Tech degrees by reputed institutes in India. The admission to this degree course is done through entrance exams.

1. 12th standard with minimum 50% marks (in PCM i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics group), from recognized board.
2. A score in an Entrance Exam i.e. JEE (depending upon the institute they have opted for) is also considered.

A candidate should possess B.E/B. Tech/ B. Sc (Engg.) in Mechanical/ Production/Automobile/Material Science/Manufacturing/Industry/ Metallurgy Engineering along with GATE score.
